This saturday was the NTMBA's club camping trip that kinda dudded out. There wasn't that many people in attendance like last years. But there was enough to have fun with. We arrived saturday around lunch and met up with everyone at the campground. Talked to Olga and Joe for a bit, Greg and Melinda still haven't arrived yet. Then sat down with Brandon and figured out where to ride. We then saddled up and drove over to the park and started riding. We first went to the creek crossing where you try to not get wet on the slick, shallow crossing. Someone always does though, it's very entertaining! We all made it this time and Brandon was the only one with a close call, throwing his shoe in the water. Some other riders came to have their turn and a couple fell, no one was hurt though, it's all good fun. We continued on up to Bridal Veil falls. This is where they shot the Last Mohican movie under the falls, even though it looks like a cliff in the movie. We headed back from there. The skies were looming with dark clouds and thunder in the background. When we arrived at the creek this time, the water was down so Joe and I rode across the very slick crossing. But Angie was last to throw her shoes across, she had one slip out of her had and down the creek it goes. I jump down the bank, its hard to move quick with sidi's on! It got hung in a small eddy and I was able to retrieve it. Dang I got my shoes wet...darn - lol. Well we made it back to the split , Brandon and crew went to the slickrock and we went to the car. We had 2 more stops to go before heading home. We arrived back in Asheville, still no rain yet. Drove downtown to the famous Mellow Mushroom Pizza parlor! Barely found a parking spot and the place was packed. We were there for about 2hrs but it was worth it, YUM !!!! We then left to go switch out Angie's parachute rig with a friend of hers in Asheville. Got that done, then as we were driving across Sam's Gap the skies turned black, it was creepy. Its was nearly dark but you could tell the skies were black, then it hit...............rain rain rain. It was off and on the rest of the way from there to home. We piled in the house and hit the hay, what a nice day !!
