LET THE SKIES OPEN AND POUR THE FURY OF THE CLOUDS UPON THE EARTH
Well the HOT is this weekend in Knoxville @ Haw Ridge but I have decided to throw my feeble attempt at racing competition somewhere else. Sorry GRT! But GOOD LUCK! Saturday is the Fall Fear Race in Marion,Va. Its a small time race that's alot of fun. I did it a couple of years ago and had a blast. It's not a bad course but has a very steep portion called the CCC trail. It's definitely a hike-a-bike for me. It's about a quarter to half mile climb straight up. Other than that it's a pretty fast course. The rain we will be getting Friday will raise the YUCK factor quite a bit. I'm not a fan of nasty races but I'm looking forward to this one. So we will see how it goes trying to keep it up on two wheels. As the weatherman is forecasting.....1 inch of rain over the course of Friday-Saturday. Could make for a very interesting HOT, Fall Fear and CX this weekend.
Sunday cyclocross is back on my radar. There's a CX race taking place in N.C. at the Ski Hawksnest ski resort near Boone, N.C. It's sponsored by Boone Bike and you can find it on the events page of their website. Dwayne told me that its not a bad course at all, you ride on the old golf course most of the time. The only climb is a cart path back up. Sounds easy enough if they do not change it from his description. One race only over there though CX-4, no single-speed class for me in NC. I also just pre-registered to save $10 over post-reg. Last race there were 59 riders in CX-4. Wow that's a HUGE class, now I'm really eager to get over there and mix it up.
