Oh yea, I went and raced at a race when the conditions were less than ideal. As I left for the Fall Fear race this morning it was still raining lightly. But I still went.....LOL. I arrived to a very low turnout (it would seem). Then after about 30min or so the parking lot started filling up. In the end it was the second largest Fall Fear Race so far, awesome. It was very chilly too. I got dressed and didn't warm up very much at all. I decided to put on a wind vest for the ride coming down the home stretch. Everyone lined up and got the starting speech from Jason. Experts first. They are awarding a King of the Hill award to first rider to the top also. They take off and we get our speech, we also get a King of the Hill award also. I'm thinking to myself "I may not be able to beat Mark and Bill but maybe I can get to the top first". So he starts us and I rip out of there like my buts on fire....... Did I mention I decided to ride the CX bike too? Well, I did. it worked out well except for the descents. back to the start, I pulled a good little lead but my legs wouldn't sustain it. I did lead all the way out to the woods before Bill passed me though. mark came around because my skinny tires sucked at wet climbing. It was Bill, Mark and I trudging along in the yuck and muck, still raining too. We came up to the CCC climb and mark was leading, he slightly stalled on a wooden bridge over a creek so I moved left to go around and the slick wood put me off the bridge. Yep upside down over a creek crossing. Twisted my bars, hurt my leg, bruised my pride and whatever else. No chance at the award now, they were gone by the time I got things in order. You might think that i would have learned my lesson about all the wooden bridges they have on the trail but I didn't. Two more times the slick, wet, and cold wood would slam me to the cold wet ground. Even before the first lap was over. I got to the top and was breathing so hard. The cool air sucked. I remounted and found out where the weakness of a CX bike is...... single track downhill! Small roots and little rocks made it react to the least bump in the trail. I managed to get down to the double track and it was on. That thing rocked on the smooth dirt trail, then I got to the pavement....even better! I came around for my first lap and I thought I was in 5th. Later I would find out 3rd! I headed for the lake greenway to start my 2nd lap but no sign of Mark or Bill. I just sat in and rode my pace. I had left my gum in the car (stupid me) so my mouth was all dry. Don't like that at all. Took it easy at all the bridge crossings and managed to get back "crash free"....yeah!!! I was about 10 minutes or so behind Mark (our winner) Bill got 2nd and I got 3rd. We ran off and left everyone in sport class except this chick from Kenda that signed to race sport men that passed us going up the CCC on the first lap and got the King award. After returning home I researched her and that stupid (*^&&*%^$$) girl is an elite racer for Kenda that's getting ready to turn pro. She made a scene at the awards when they scored and finished her as the winner for sport women. She wanted the sport men's 1st place award, what an unprofessional little (&*$!@&*#^) So they took Mark's award and handed it to her. It's amazing what you get when you pitch a fit. Her name is Philicia Marion. Go here to see how good she is. I wish I had known how good she was, I would have ran my big mouth and called her out!!! SANDBAGGER!!! Her husband ripped the experts a new one, he's FAST! he's also is on the page.
Anywho, as you seen at the top of the page there's a SWEET '61 BUG bus/truck on here. That thing rocks !!!! If I had the money laying around I would have driven that home. I talked to the guy and he sold it on Ebay for $7700 and they dude never got it. So he's putting it back on this week. I love old bugs like that, they are so cool. Tomorrow we race CX in N.C. near Boone. Also my friends are racing at the HOT right now as I type, so I should know how that went too.

THANKS! Mark Prince was on a mission dude. He was rollin'. He's came along way and is doing well racing. Some people make fun of him, but he's going to put some folks in their place
Good job on the HOT
Nice !
Those wooden bridges have put many good riders in the creek ... they're bad news when wet.
