Today was #4 race in the MSG series @ Steele Creek park. We awoke to rain and everything wet this morning. I loaded up all the bikes in the rain and then we proceeded to Bristol. We arrived and it was still raining and it looked to be a nasty dreary day for CX. Ha! That's the perfect weather for CX racing!!!!! All of our Cx racing in our little part of this great country has been sunny and 70 degrees. It was nice to have some yukky weather to CX in. The rain stopped and the wind started. I got the EZ-UP raised and put the walls up on it to shield the wind and I'm glad I did. The temps took a nose dive as the day progressed.
I actually got a warm-up lap in before the start of CX4 today.....imagine that. I always roll up to the line last or late. I felt really good and managed a 13th today. The ground was soaked and It felt like riding on wet soaked carpet, but I still hung in. The sun kept trying to pop out for brief 30 second intervals but to no avail. The 3's started about an hour later and my friends Wes and Rob (finished 1,2 respectively) got caught in a downpour. OMG it poured on them, by the look on Rob's face he wasn't enjoying it very much...lol. By a few hours later it was freezing. Then it was time for our single speed class. I have just gave up on this class because of all the pro 1,2,3 riders in it. Last year we MTBer's had it to ourselves. I just call it a massive group ride now ha ha. I get heckled by some friends on the sidelines, but having fun is what CX is all about!!!! The course was a disaster now after all the racing. I had put my 29" Maxxis Ignitors back on the Redline Monocog for this race also. They really hooked up in the mud and I could go through all the turns faster than most of the CX bikes with the skinny CX tires on that were back in the rear of the pack with me. I just used it as exercise and waited for one of the pros to lap me. I took some pics with my cell, they aren't very good but I did not have my camera with me....... After sitting in a wet chamois most of the day I needed some monkey butt relief... Austin nabbed a 5th on his new ride. He should be 3rd or 4th in points overall and 3rd in TBAR points for Tennessee now...............Go Austin !!!!
Austin's new ride..............
I look nice and warm..........NOT!!!!

A friend of mine that lives in Atlanta sent me this pic of a van (the Scooby Doo mystery machine) he saw in a parking lot there. He laughed so hard when he saw this thing he said........
