BUTT BUTTERS

I posted a while back that I was trying some new chamoi creme. Many years ago I would have never dreamed of using anything like this. After one time getting chafed after a century it opened my eyes and now I wont do a long ride without it! I have tried several different brands and after a long trial I'm ready to give my impressions. (not that it matters to anyone :0) ) Yes It's raining here in Tennessee and I'm bored.

Retail $16.95 - The first taint rub that I ever used was the Assos brand. Yes I will admit I heard that Lance used this and it made me go out and try it. I'm glad I did, it works well in my opinion. I would give it a 9 out of a 10 for sure. It lasts a long time. Especially if your putting in mileage for a century. It will be right there with ya 'til the end providing all day lasting comfort and lubrication.

Retail $22.00 - The newest and latest is the DZnuts. The you tube videos for the advertising are hilarious. Dave Zabriski has the marketing down pat for this stuff, even a catchy name too. I tried it for road and mountain biking also. It does what it says. It has superior lubrication, has a medicinal smell though but nothing one can't stand. It doesn't last as long as the Assos in my opinion but I would use it for 3-4 hour rides and be very happy with it. 7 out of a 10 here.

Retail $11.95 - Paceline Chamois Butter is an all around good product. Not only have I received numerous amounts of this stuff free in grab bags for entering races, its good to get something free that you can actually use! It's mostly like the DZnuts though, it would not last all day like the Assos though, but it works well. Again I wouldn't use this for a century but for a 3-4 hour ride it works great also. 6 out of a 10 here because DZnuts has won the advertising competition, not that there was one.
Retail $4.99 - Udderly Smooth Although its the cheapest I have used, the old saying "you get what you paid for" goes a long way here. This was developed for dairy farmers I think. I'm not putting it back in my cycling shorts........MOOOOOOO!!!! 3 out of 10 here. Would not purchase again.

Retail $5.95 - Monkey Butt I wouldn't classify this as butter but if you need relief after the ride this stuff works! Worries me though that you can pick this stuff up at the weirdest places, like Tractor Supply? $4.99 You can also use Gold Bond but I prefer the Monkey Butt. 8 out of 10

Overall the Assos comes out on top in my humble opinion. If I'm spending my hard earned bad economic time dollars, it will be well spent on the Assos creme for sure. I will always keep the Monkey Butt powder handy also. Hope this helped someone, if not it gave me something to do for a few.

Yesterday Angie wanted to put up the Ducati. She called and asked me to go get it and meet her at her brothers house in Gray so we could store it in his garage. Yehaw! I got a short, I say very short, ride on the monster 1000 after the road ride yesterday. I got to 'blow it out' on I-26. 125mph in the hammer lane all the way to Gray, yea - I'm a wuss that was fast enough! I passed a JC local and he didn't even look my way. That's one of the reasons I don't go out and buy another one. SPEED !

I must not ride nearly long or hard enough, 'cuz I'm yet to be tempted to slather up! Still, the reviews are useful and one never knows!

Hi Frank, Thats what I used to think 'til I got chaffed. I couldn't even sit on my saddle it hurt so bad. Missed a weeks worth of riding too. So I gave in and started using. I don't use it for every ride though.

Thanks for visiting!

You sure spent alot of time rubbing different stuff between your legs and talking about it, kinda weird. Next time pick a different product to test.
