Warmer Temps and Sweet Single Track

Saturday was another one of those good days. It didn't start that way though. I woke up at 2:22am and could not fall back asleep. I tossed and turned until 4am then said screw it, I'm gettin' up. So I meandered around the house trying to do who knows what. Eventually 8am rolled around and Brad rolled up in the drive and we were off to meet everyone at Hampton Trail BS. Greg & Anthony were running a little late but got there. We loaded up the truck and we were off for N.Wilkesboro, N.C. to ride at W.Kerr Scott Dam. There was a pretty good group in attendance: Myself, Greg, Anthony, Brad, Chris, Billy, Andy & Abby. Yes Abby was the only girl riding, You go girl.

We set the GoPro cameras and we hit the trail. It was my first time over there and the single track was really sweet. Anthony told me that the trails were built with a machine, wish the NTMBA had one! Greg and I took some good video footage too. Different mounting locations on the bike, head and experimenting with different shots. Some more time with these and we are going to have some really sweet videos to be proud of. It was wet in several parts of the trail where the sun couldn't get to. It felt as if you were spinning 2 for 1 on the climbs where it was slick but for the most part it was excellent. We got a little under 20 miles for the day but I swear we pedaled 25 with all the spinning we were doing in the slick stuff. Everyone had a really good ride. At the end of the day we rode the DH course. That would be a really fast and fun course after you get it memorized. Its not a course that I would recommend for a 29er though. A good slalom bike would tear that up since there aren't any big drops. Thanks to Greg for driving!

It looks as if Anthony and Brad are going to draw on each other...

Midway stopping @ campsite to regroup and find next route...
