SWEET N.C.SINGLE TRACK

This weather is just awesome! Greg got caught up on some work @ home and another road trip to N.C. was in the works. Although he rode Warrior’s Creek Sunday with his wife Melinda, he wanted to go back today and hit it one more time. This was my second trip to North Wilkesboro so far this year. Last trip it was sweet single track on the OVT trail. Today was something different! The newly completed warrior’s Creek trail was on our radar this morning as we met at Hampton Trails Bike Shop @730 am to take flight. It’s the new trail that was built to host the 6 hrs. of Warriors Creek. We had another rider tagging along today, Aaron. He’s a new member of the mountain bike club so we thought we would show some hospitality. After we arrived we met some more riders and after some hello’s we were off about 2 minutes behind them. It was a little chilly so I slid on the arm warmers but I knew that I would soon be shedding them. It warmed up quick with pretty blue skies. Much different back at the house, gloomy and rain expected.
We headed off down a small trail that leads to the Warrior Creek Trail only about half a mile away. Once on the trail it was short quick climbs with dips like a roller coaster. We hit it pretty good then we stopped to check on Aaron. After a few he came along, a little winded but still gettin’ on. We got to a place where Greg said it was pretty cool so we fired up the gopro cameras. I’m guessing as best I can that this race course is going to be in the 10 mile range. It’s a fun trail for sure but I don’t think the “fast” guys will be able to get 6 laps in before the 6 hr time limit. I could be wrong but I don’t see it happening. Why you ask? Because there are several little climbs that will take its toll by the 5th hour for sure. There’s a lot of fun, bermed, rolling single track that’s for sure. There are also several little climbs because if you get to go down you’re going to pedal back up at some point. Some are tight, tight turns that are bermed and some are not. I have to mention that there is two son of a b**** climbs in there too, they are only about 40-50 yards long but if it gets slick………no way - your pushing! It’s that steep!
It’s gearing up to be a good time, hard riding and brewskis afterwards. Camp then maybe ride some more Sunday. Like Joshua stated before, that place is turning into the ‘new’ Tsali.

On the way home, Boone, N.C. has an Earthfare grocery store so we decided to stop there for lunch. I had some sushi that was pretty good. The little Asian lady making it could not understand my country accent though so I ended up just showing her. On the way out we had to cruise the adult beverage section. What do my eyes see but Cottonwood Low Down Brown Ale….YUM! I grabbed a 6 pack even though I can't afford it right now being unemployed, but what the hey since I can’t find it here in Tennessee sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Can’t wait to savor it at dinner tonight.

Here is some video of today.......

You can't get the Low Down in TN? Dude, it's always stocked at FC in Abingdon.

Not even Libation station has it here Anthony. I can find the cottonwood IPA all day here though.

I will check at FC in Weber City. Last time I was in there they didn't have it though.

Wes, it's all about the cutoff time. If they cut at 3:30 no, but if they cut at 6hrs @4pm then add 1more lap. I would say that some people(very few) are going to do 45-50 min laps at first, they won't hold that pace. But I'm not a endurance expert! but if you avg 10mph thats only 6 laps with no stopping for refueling. Its all about the cutoff time!!

My bad Scoob, FC in weber city does not have it, I just went by there and looked. Maybe it was Overbrook at the TN VA state line.
