"EPIC" Maiden Voyage

After getting this epic together after the TT Saturday, I was itching to get on this and RIDE it. I ran across some closeout deals working at Hampton Trails of late and picked up some parts at some crazy reduced prices. I put on my new XT shifters and a couple of other chi chi's I ordered. Today I had planned to head over to Warriors after I dropped Austin off at his mom's. Just before I was to leave big E hit me up on the cell and wanted to get the "tent" and move it to my back driveway from Blountville. We had to head that way to take Austin home so he stopped by and picked us up and we were off. We get it backed into the driveway then I was planning to ride Bay's or Warrior's then E says wait 'til I get back @5 and we will hit Buffalo. I agree, so I tinker with things around the house and make some late lunch, pick some tomatoes, jalapenos and banana peppers. We hit the trail at about 6ish from the top. We bang out the top side across from the ATV lot and hit a trail over to the green mile, climb back up and do mud holler then around the back. Dark was creeping up on us so we had to cut it short and head back via the old blue trail. The new Specialized captain tire did really well up front, I think I'm going to stick with it for now. It's hooking up great! I have been searching for different tires to try since my MAXXIS relationship was severed. So far I haven't found much I like, I'm still hung up on the maxxis train.

I had an Epic a few years back (silver one-pic above) and I loved it but the handling was a little slow to me. This one is the same year but I have a different fork on this one. This one (blue) has a quicker response on the steering, better than I can remember. The only thing is; my old epic (silver) was a medium and the blue one is a large. I had my old notes so I got them out went over a few things. Adjusted the brain shock to get it close for my weight, I did well - spot on. The only thing I missed was my seat height, which I easily remedied. I think I'm going to stick with this for awhile unless I come across another insane crazy deal like this one . Although the color looked alot more blue on the computer I'm still trying to warm up to the blue anodized color. Don't get me wrong I like it alot, it's nice having some squish in the rear when you need it. I like the hardtail effect when climbing and the full suspension when ya hit the bumps. The best of best of both worlds!
